Seeking individuals with a history of velopharyngeal dysfunction and/or cleft lip and palate

This study seeks to analyze the anatomy and speech of individuals born with cleft lip and/or palate using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The purpose of this study is to identify changes in anatomy before and after surgical intervention and changes that occur over time. Information obtained from this study may facilitate improvements in speech outcomes and reduce the cost/burden of care involved in remediation of VPD.

This project has been reviewed and approved by an Institutional Review Board (UVA IRB-HSR) with Dr. Kazlin Mason as the Principal Investigator.

As a thank you for your time and participation in the study, all participants will receive a gift card after each study visit.
